Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
Memorial Day Weekend has always been a special time for me. For starters it has been Indy 500 weekend (one of the country’s oldest organized non-military traditions) and more importantly it is one of two days I make a particular point to thank every veteran I know for their service and sacrifice to our country and to every vet who ever served under Old Glory and for what she stands for!
For all who have ever listened to the show you know that grandpa Jasper who was a great race car driver was also a vet of WWII. You also know that we lost him just days before our show aired on FOX Sports Radio back in 2004. You also probably know that the man for whom I was named “Papa Tony” Villelli was also a veteran of WWII and was a POW in a German prison camp (I talked about both my grandfathers quite a bit this weekend on the show every year). We lost papa Tony this past August, so this is my first Memorial Day Weekend with out either of the men I so honored and respected. Our country is slowly loosing all the heroes of the “Greatest Generation!”
However there are still many more heroes to thank and honor from that generation and ones since. I want to thank the last one from the WWII generation that I am related to my great-uncle Frank Villelli. I also want to thank all the rest that I know; first and foremost my dad Dick Villelli, my father-in-law Jerry Franc, Uncle Paul, Rick Philbrook, Steve Ireland, Randy Bresnik, Brady Bartosh, my cousin Craig Baltes and my good buddy and Co-host Ken Spatz. “Thank you” to you all and God Bless America!

We are still waiting for Yahoo to open up there 2009 NASCAR Fantasy League, but as soon as they do we will be setting up the Speed Sport Report League! So stay tuned. We still have not got reservations confirmed for the awards banquet but are still working on it.
